Impala Park Sanctuary

It is located approximately 3 kilometres from Kisumu CBD. It is a beautiful sanctuary that hosts impalas, vervet monkeys, the rare sitatunga antelope, buffalos, giraffes, cheetahs, zebras and other primates. It is also home to five campsites with spectacular views of Lake Victoria, the world’s second largest freshwater lake. Kakamega Forest

This beautiful forest is home to various mammals including bush pigs, giant forest hedgehogs, colobus monkeys, Debrazzar monkeys and pottos. Some of the birds to be seen here include the Blue Headed Bee Eater, Black Billed Turaco, Turner’s Eremomela and Grey Parrots. Kit Mikayi Shrine

It is a large rock formation, with about 3 rocks on top. It is situated approximately 29 kilometres from Kisumu Town. It is a sacred site amongst the locals who live there. They conduct prayers and fasting sessions at the facility. It is also a pilgrimage site for the Legio Maria sect. There is a picnic area just below the rocks where you can spend some quality time with your family or friends.LEARN MORE

Sunset Boat Ride

If you find yourself in Kisumu, this is a good way to spend a couple hours. You can take a Boda (motorcycle taxi) to Dunga Bay and basically just walk to the dock where there are boats waiting at all times to take visitors on a boat tour. Kisumu Museum

The museum was opened in 1980. It is located along the Kisumu- Kericho Highway. It features a gallery of cultural materials of people from Western Kenya, in particular, Luo artefacts and other traditional aspects like the Luo homestead. Ndere Island National Park

It is an island of serenity and beauty located off the Kisumu- Bondo road. It takes approximately 45 minutes with a speed boat direct from Kisumu. A wide variety of animals like hippos, baboons, monitor lizards, snakes, Nile crocodiles, impalas, sitatunga antelope, waterbucks, zebras and different species of birds can be found at the park.LEARN MORE
